Fuse

Fuse (Giving) It is a Japanese term that translates as offering, donation o generosity. It is one of the fundamental pillars of Buddhist practice and reflects the spirit of giving without expecting anything in return. In its essence, FUSE represents the act of offering with a selfless heart, as an expression of compassion and detachment.

in Buddhism, FUSE is part of the Six paramites o perfections (Dāna in Sanskrit), which are qualities that practitioners cultivate on the way to lighting. Through the practice of FUSE, selfishness dissolves and connection with other beings is strengthened, helping to purify the mind and reduce attachment.

The fuse can manifest in various ways:

  • Material donations, like food, clothing or money, offered to the Sangha (monastic community) or needy people.
  • Time or service offerings, helping others altruistic.
  • Transmission of Dharma, sharing Buddhist teachings or guiding others in their practice.

In Japanese Zen, Fuse can also be seen in the relationship between monks and laity. Monks offer spiritual teachings and guidance, while the laity materially support the monks, creating a relationship of mutual interdependence and gratitude.

FUSE not only benefits those who receive, but transforms who gives, promoting one generous and open mind. As this practice deepens, It is understood that there is no separation between who gives, what is given and who receives, reflecting the fundamental unity that Buddhism teaches.
